At the center of our interest lies the log wall (Strickbauwand) that separates the living quarters from the former service areas. By revealing this construction and selectively opening it, light and air can be drawn into the deep center of the house. This intervention becomes a spatial mediator: strengthening the atmospheric qualities of the living spaces while improving the most constrained rooms of the house — the kitchen, bathroom, and small chambers. Through these and further small, precise interventions, the historic building regains its clarity while adapting to contemporary patterns of inhabitation.
